Planning & Development Librarian 
A full-time planning & development librarian position is available in adminstration at the Library Center and will be posted until filled. The job is scheduled for approximately 40+ hours per week and pays $44,428 annually with benefits.
Essential Functions
- Planning - Works with the Programs, Services and Technology Committee of the Board of Trustees and the staff to update the Library's long range plan keeping the Director and the Committee apprised of the plan's progress. Works with the staff committees to review and keep track of the strategies to carry out the long range plan. Assists with facilities planning. Works with the Buildings & Grounds Committee of the Board of Trustees.
- Development - Researches public grant opportunities to fund services, buildings, and/or operations costs for the Library District. Works with teams of staff to write the corresponding grant proposals. Oversees funded grant projects to make sure they are on track and files all required reports. Works in conjunction with the Library Director to decide which grant programs are best suited for the District. Works with the Foundation Director in planning for private funding opportunities.
- Friends of the Library Liaison - Serves as the liaison to the Friends of the Library by attending their Board meetings, writing and presenting the library's grant fund proposals to the Friends, helps the Friends with their semi-annual book sales, and provides support for the Friends in any way needed.
- Community - Represents the Springfield-Greene County Library District, speaks before groups, and maintains positive relations with other agencies and organizations in order to identify community library needs and partnerships for library services. Serves on District management team to provide support to Public Services.
- Timeliness - Since employees in this position work with other staff they must be punctual and timely in arriving to work, attending meetings and completing tasks. They must also be capable of working all hours as may be needed to get the job done.
- Ability to work with others and the general public - This position works closely with the Administrative and Support staff, numerous other staff members on various grant proposals/projects, as well as, other community agencies and organizations. Therefore, it is essential that individuals who work in this position have the ability to work and interact in a cooperative, pleasant, and constructive manner with others.
Education/Experience
- MLS/MLIS Degree.
- Five to ten years of professional library experience including planning and development.
- Experience working with Library Boards & Friends Groups.
- Grant writing experience.
- Internet and PC literate.

Supervision

Physical Demands
- Performs bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching from floor level to 6 feet in height.
- Displays good coordination and mobility.
- Routine lifting of library materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
Working Environment
- Primarily indoor with heating and cooling regulated in a general library environment.
Miscellaneous Requirements
- Must be able to pass a security background check, if applicable.
