Care to LearnCare to Learn is a non-profit organization that helps to stop children's suffering by providing immediate funding and action to meet any emergent health, hunger, or hygiene issue. Items like a toothbrush, a coat, deodorant, or breakfast can stand between children and belonging - basic unmet needs that cause pain and embarrassment. By meeting these needs a child's self-respect can be restored and they can get back to the classroom.
In 2008 Springfield businessman Doug Pitt approached his brother Brad Pitt and Springfield community leader Jim D. Morris about providing funds to establish the Care to Learn Fund. With this strong foundation, administrative suppport from the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools, and a caring community, Care to Learn was born.
In 2009 Care to Learn chapters were founded in Bolivar, Ozark, Nixa, and at Ozarks Technical Community College.
In April 2010 Care to Learn began its third year by celebrating over 25,000 emergent requests from students in the areas of health, hunger and hygiene had been fulfilled.
